Kem Menulis Puisi Melayu (Malay Poetry Writing Bootcamp)

Mengapakah penulis mengarang puisi dan bagaimanakah caranya untuk anda menghasilkan karya puisi yang baik? Kem menulis puisi ini dikendalikan berdasarkan tanggapan bahawa penulisan yang paling menarik bermula selepas draf pertama, dan pentingnya untuk terus berlatih supaya karya anda menjadi lebih baik!

Perhatian kepada para belia dan penulis muda berumur 13-20 tahun! Sertai kem menulis ini untuk mengenali dan mendalami seni penulisan puisi Melayu. Para peserta akan berpeluang untuk mencabar kreativiti mereka, mengasah bakat dan memperbaiki gaya dan mutu penulisan mereka dengan menggunakan alat-alat sastera dengan bimbingan daripada para penulis mapan yang pakar lagi arif. Para peserta juga akan berkesempatan untuk mempamerkan karya mereka yang telah digilap sewaktu kem tersebut kepada khalayak ramai di media sosial!

Hantarkan karya anda sekarang berdasarkan tema “Coretan dan Conteng” untuk mengambil bahagian* di sesi perkemahan menulis yang diadakan pada bulan Mac 2022. Sesi perkemahan ini akan dikendalikan dalam bahasa Melayu dan dianjurkan bersempena dengan My Sing Lit.

Why do writers write poetry and how do you write a good poem? This poetry writing bootcamp is built on the notion that the most exciting writing begins after the first draft, and the importance of practice makes perfect!

Calling all teens and young adult writers aged 13-20 years old! Be part of this poetry writing bootcamp to learn more about poetry writing in Malay.

Participants can explore their creativity, hone their skills and improve their creative writing skills by exploring the use of literary devices with experts in the field. They also get the opportunity to present their polished works that was done during the bootcamp to the public on social media.

Simply submit an original, unpublished poem based on the theme “Snippets and Scribbles” and you’ll earn a spot* at the Malay Poetry Writing Bootcamp that will be held on 8-9 March 2022. This bootcamp will be held in Malay and is organised as part of My Sing Lit.

Hamed Ismail (Speaker)

Hamed Ismail is a former Senior Supervisor with Eaglevision TV Scripts, Mediacorp. He still serves as a TV Drama Script Advisor. He has written radio drama scripts, theatre scripts, countless TV drama scripts as well as poetry, short stories and essays. His collection of poetry, Suara Dalam (Inner Voice) was shortlisted for the Singapore Literature Prize (2014). The novel Bunga Tanjong won the Merit Prize, Singapore Literature Prize (2018). The anthology Tafsiran Tiga Alam (Interpretation of Three Realms) written with Samsudin Said and Hartinah Ahmad, won the Malay Literary Award (2017) and the Singapore Literature Prize (2016). He has also won the Golden Point Award (for poetry and short stories) and the Malay Literary Award (for theatre scripts, television drama scripts and short stories).

Suratman Markasan (Speaker)

Suratman Markasan was the Assistant Director for Malay and Tamil Studies and a lecturer at the Institute of Education. He has been a member of ASAS ’50 since 1954, a judge for the ASEAN Literary Award in 1977, and was elected as a committee member of the World Congress of Poets in 1989. He has received the S.E.A. Write Award, Nusantara Literary Award, and Tun Seri Lanang Literary Award, the Anugerah Sasterawan Nusantara, the Cultural Medallion, among others.

Farihan Bahron (Facilitator)

Farihan Bahron, recipient of the 2017 Promising Award (Malay Literary Award), has won several competitions including the 1998 Peraduan Asah Bakat Competition (First Prize – Poetry), the 2000 Anugerah Pena Bakti Award (Third Prize – Poetry), 2003 Golden Point Award (Second Prize – Poetry), 2015 Golden Point Award ( First Prize – Poetry and Short Stories), the 2016 Mencari Kristal (Third Prize – Short Story), 2017 National Poetry Competition (Merit) and the 2020 Kata-Pilar Poetry Competition (Grand Prize). At the 2018 Singapore Literature Prize, Tukang Tunjuk Telunjuk (Finger-Pointing Expert) won the Malay poetry category while his short story collection, Kesumat Sang Avatar (The Avatar’s Wrath), received the Commendation Prize (Malay fiction). Farihan has also been active in writing lyrics for the Singapore Dikir Barat scene since 1996 and has received the Best Lyrics trophy 14 times.

Khairool Haque (Facilitator)

Muhammad Khairool Haque is a writer and educator. He has received the Golden Point Award for poetry in 2009 and the inaugural ASEAN Young Writers Award in 2014. His published works include Iftitah, Syair Asas Ugama and Anak Waktu Belajar Diam.

Garis Panduan Penghantaran Karya
1. Perkhemahan menulis ini terbuka kepada warganegara Singapura dan penduduk tetap berusia antara 13 hingga 20 tahun* sahaja.
2. Peserta yang berminat untuk menyertai perkhemahan menulis ini perlu menghantar puisi pendek yang asli (50-80 perkataan setiap puisi) dalam bahasa Melayu dengan tema “Coretan dan Conteng”.
3. Penghantaran karya harus dimuat naik sebagai satu fail dalam format PDF (fon: Arial, saiz: 11pt).
4. Penghantaran karya boleh dilakukan di pautan ini, di mana maklumat peserta dan pengakuan juga akan diminta.
5. Penyertaan boleh dilakukan secara individu atau sebagai kumpulan (tidak boleh melebihi tiga (3) ahli kumpulan).
—- a. Untuk penyertaan secara individu, peserta perlu menghantar sekurang-kurangnya satu (1) puisi asli.
—- b. Untuk penyertaan sebagai kumpulan, kumpulan tersebut perlu menghantar sekurang-kurangnya dua (2) puisi asli.
6. Untuk penyertaan melalui sekolah yang melebihi lima (5) penyertaan berasingan (secara individu ataupun dalam kumpulan), sila e-mel kami di programmes1@bookcouncil.sg untuk melakukan penyertaan anda.
7. Tarikh tutup panggilan terbuka telah ditunda hingga 20 Februari 2022, jam 2359 (SGT).
8. Penyertaan yang tidak lengkap akan ditolak. Kandungan yang dianggap tidak sesuai atau bersifat diskriminatif juga tidak akan diterima.

*Peserta di bawah umur 18 tahun perlu mendapatkan persetujuan ibu bapa / penjaga sah dan dengan menyertai program ini, akan dianggap bahawa persetujuan tersebut telah diperoleh.

Submission
1. This bootcamp is open to participants who are Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents aged between 13 to 20 years old* only.
2. Applicants interested in participating in the bootcamp are required to submit their original short poem(s) (50-80 words per poem), written in Malay with the theme “Snippets and Scribbles”.
3. Submissions should be saved and uploaded as a single PDF file (font: Arial, size: 11pt).
4. Submissions can be made via this link, where participants’ details and declaration will be required.
5. Applications can be made by an individual or as a group.
—— a. For solo participation, the participant is required to submit at least one (1) original poem.
—— b. For group participations, the group should consist of no more than three (3) members and is required to submit at least two (2) original poems.
6. For school submissions with more than five (5) separate applications (individually or as a group), please email us directly at programmes1@bookcouncil.sg to complete your submission.
7. The open call for submission are extended until 20 February 2022, 2359 hrs (SGT).
8. Incomplete submissions will be rejected. Content that is deemed inappropriate or discriminatory in nature will also be disqualified.

*Participants under the age of 18 years old must obtain the consent of a parent/legal guardian and by participating in this programme, it is deemed that consent has been obtained.

Kriteria Kelayakan
1. Semua puisi yang disertakan adalah karya asli yang dikarang oleh para peserta.
2. Semua puisi yang disertakan mengandungi tajuk dan perlu menyatakan jumlah perkataan (bagi setiap puisi) di akhir halaman. Setiap puisi tidak boleh melebihi had perkataan yang tertera di atas.
3. Hanya puisi yang ditulis dalam bahasa Melayu akan diterima.
4. Puisi yang disertakan haruslah tidak pernah diterbitkan ataupun diterbitkan sendiri, sama ada dalam bentuk cetak atau di platform dalam talian, sebelum 1 November 2021.
5. Para peserta yang terpilih akan dihubungi pihak penganjur untuk mengesahkan kehadiran mereka bagi Kem Menulis Puisi Melayu, yang akan diadakan melalui Zoom pada 8 dan 9 Mac 2022. Para peserta perlu menghadiri kedua-dua hari dan menyelesaikan enam (6) jam sesi bengkel.

Eligibility Criteria
1. All submitted poems should be an original work written by the participant(s).
2. All submitted poems should have a title and should indicate the total number of words (per poem) at the end of the page. Each poem should not exceed the word limit as indicated above.
3. Only poems written in Malay will be accepted.
4. Submitted poems must not have been published or self-published, be it in print or on online platforms, before 1 November 2021.
5. Successful participants will be notified to confirm their attendance for the Malay poetry writing bootcamp, which will be held via Zoom on 8 and 9 March 2022. Participants are required to attend both days and complete a total of six (6) hours of workshop.

Terma dan Syarat
1. Peserta di bawah umur 18 tahun mesti mendapatkan persetujuan ibu bapa / penjaga sah dan dengan menyertai program ini, akan dianggap bahawa persetujuan tersebut telah diperoleh.
2. Setelah panggilan ini ditutup, semua penyertaan akan disemak dan dipilih oleh panel mentor dan fasilitator, dan segala keputusan yang dibuat adalah muktamad. Tiada surat-menyurat atau rayuan akan dipertimbangkan.
3. Sebarang bentuk penipuan (plagiarism) atau penyertaan kandungan hak cipta (copyrighted content) yang disalahgunakan tidak akan diterima. Penyertaan yang telah memenangi hadiah dalam pertandingan lain, atau karya mereka pernah diterbitkan sebelum ini, atau ada tujuan untuk menerbitkan karya secara dalam talian atau cetak, juga tidak akan diterima. Peserta akan memberi ganti rugi kepada Majlis Buku Singapura, serta mentor, fasilitator dan panel juri program ini terhadap sebarang tuntutan pelanggaran hak cipta yang berkaitan dengan penyertaan mereka.
4. Para peserta perlu mengiktiraf #BuySingLit, My Sing Lit, dan Majlis Buku Singapura jika puisi mereka diterbitkan setelah perkemahan tersebut berakhir (selepas 9 Mac 2022).
5. Hak cipta karya yang disertakan adalah milik penulis yang asal. Majlis Buku Singapura akan mengekalkan lesen yang tidak eksklusif (non-exclusive), berkekalan (perpetual), seluruh dunia (worldwide), dan bebas royalti (royalty-free) untuk menyimpan dan menggunakan karya yang disertakan untuk segala tujuan yang sejajar dengan misi Majlis Buku Singapura , termasuk sebagai bahan arkib dan promosi program-program masa hadapan, serta untuk mempromosi Majlis Buku Singapura ataupun sebarang program Majlis Buku Singapura . Penulis juga memberikan izin kepada Majlis Buku Singapura untuk menterjemahkan, menerbitkan dan/atau menyiarkan karya tersebut.
6. Setelah menghadiri perkemahan menulis ini, para peserta akan diminta untuk mempersembahkan puisi mereka yang telah digilap dalam bentuk rakaman video pendek. Rakaman video tersebut perlu diserahkan kepada penganjur dalam tempoh masa dua minggu kemudian. Maklumat lanjut akan diberikan sewaktu perkemahan.
7. Rakaman video akan dimuat naik di laman sosial oleh pihak penganjur. Para peserta akan membenarkan pihak penganjur untuk menggunakan video tersebut, sama ada sebahagian atau sepenuhnya, untuk tujuan mempromosi program-program masa hadapan, serta untuk mempromosi Majlis Buku Singapura ataupun sebarang program Majlis Buku Singapura.
8. Majlis Buku Singapura berhak untuk membuat perubahan pada Terma dan Syarat yang dinyatakan di sini dan juga mengubah pengaturan lain mengenai Kem Menulis Puisi Melayu.

Terms and Conditions
1. Participants under the age of 18 years old must obtain the consent of a parent/legal guardian and by participating in this programme, it is deemed that consent has been obtained.
2. All entries will be reviewed and selected by the mentors and facilitators after the call closes and all decisions are final. No correspondences or appeals will be entertained.
3. Any form of plagiarism or use of copyrighted content will not be accepted. Entries which have won prizes in other competitions, or have been previously published, or are intended to be published either digitally or in print, will not be accepted as well. Participants will indemnify Singapore Book Council, as well as the mentors, facilitators and panel of judges of this programme against any claims on infringement of copyright relating to their entries.
4. Participants will be required to acknowledge #BuySingLit, My Sing Lit, and the Singapore Book Council if their poems are eventually published after the bootcamp has ended (after 9 March 2022).
The copyright of the submitted poems belongs with the original author(s). Singapore Book Council retains the non-exclusive, perpetual, world-wide, royalty-free license to keep and use submitted entries for any purpose consistent with the mission of Singapore Book Council, including archival and promotion of future programmes, and for publicising Singapore Book Council or any programme of Singapore Book Council. The author(s) also grants Singapore Book Council the right to translate, publish and/or broadcast the poems or an adaptation of them.
6. Participants will be asked to produce a short video recording presenting their polished poems after attending the bootcamp. The recorded videos should be submitted to the organisers within two weeks after the bootcamp. More information will be provided during the bootcamp.
7. The videos will be uploaded onto social media by the organisers. Participants will allow the organisers to use the video, in partial or in full, for the purpose of promotion of future programmes, and for publicising Singapore Book Council or any programme of Singapore Book Council.
8. Singapore Book Council reserves the right to make any changes to the Terms and Conditions set out herein and any other arrangements concerning the Bootcamp.
