Description

Built in the 1950s, the old Dakota Crescent estate was once a vibrant community, but has since given way to modern development. An enclave in a bend of the Geylang River, it is known for its low-rise shophouses and flats that surround a unique, pigeon-shaped playground. The estate will be completely demolished soon, and has become a symbol of nostalgia amidst the rapidly changing landscapes of Singapore.

Join writer Wong Koi Tet, who was born and raised in Dakota Crescent, on a meandering trail through the remnants of the place, where stories of bygone days still echo in his writing and between the brick-clad walls. Discover the unique shape, colour and scent of the place, moulded into beautiful verses that will reside in the memory forever.
